Pollution

Everyone has been noticing and experiancing the climate changes that been happening like crazy. Ecspecially those who live within the boarder lines of Illinois. The winter has been a very....dramatic changing. Years ago winters use to be freezing and horribly windy, ecspecially in Chicago, IL. This year tho...not soo much. Granted, yes there was the winds going, like there usually is. But this winter, what happend to all the snow? We did get a little bit, but as soon as it all settled, it all melted away! The snow wasn't able to stay for very long. The climate is deffinatly changing, and honestly it is for teh worst. As a nation, we needed a hard cold winter to get ride of all the bugs/viruses that are going around. Also to get rid of all the bugs that are possibly still alive, for example, the misquitos need to die from the strain of dieseases that they are carrying. The summer, is more than likely going to be hotter than it ever has, and that is going to cause alot of issues that we may not be able to know how to handle. Both the Goverment and the people are beggining to find ways to help stop some of the polluting we have and are creating. A not so new idea of Nuclear Power Plants has came bakc into the minds of people, but many still do not like the idea. The Power Plants will help decrease some of the pollution sent into the air and help cut back on some of the fossil fuels. Which as millions are aware that we do not have very much left. As the price of it will not go up when gas and coal prices begin to soar and how much it varies.
Those how have watched the Simpsons before know of the job that the husband, Homer Simpson holds within the entire series. They do throw out alot of jokes and puns about the Power Plant, but to a certain extent they are serious. The things that are produced by the Power Plant do use alot less amount of pollution, but most of the materials they produce, are more than likely to be radioactive to a certain degree. After awhile, the radioactivity can not only hurt the people that are incontact with the materials but also the wild life that is around and near it. The Simpsons also produced a movie, which of course please keep in mind that The Simpsons is a cartoon show, not to be taken seriously. The little things that they add to the show/movie, can possibly happen. I believe that they are good example, of both the extreems and the reality. Within the movie the wild life (water life) began to be mutated and the entire had to be shut down because of the wrongfully dumping being down by both the commuinity and the Nuclear Power Plant.

Which of course this is a dramatization, but the wrongful dumping and radioactive material\waste that comes with this plant not only can hurt the people but also the enviorment.
The product that comes out of the plant can be low-level radioactive but the waste that comes out is horrivly radioactive. The waste that is produced by these plants need to go somewhere but the problem is no matter where you put the waste, it WILL eventually eat through the containers and will reach to the enviorment. We literally have no where to put this harmful product because the more and more you produce of it, the more and more room you need, but we already have no clue what to do with the amount we have...How are we rightfully going to add more to that problem. As a world we have become dependant on things that not only hurt us but also hurt the world around us. The amount of pollution and toxic material we produce should be unethical, but we care more about what we want now then in the long run. Our world we know is very slowly, but surely begginning to fall apart, and we have no clue what to do about it.

Climate out of control

A couple days ago I seen a paper that had an article called "Climate out of Control", I just assumed its everyone making a big deal out of things, like usual. Now that I stop and think about it, the weather is insanely everywhere. The Kankakee area weather not only is jumping tempuratues, but also jumping weather conditions. Just the other day freezing rain was comming down. Now I may be young, but at the age of 18 I have never delt with anything really like that. Yeah, we've all delt with hail, but they are two different things. Now all of a sudden the weathers shifting to 60 degrees and possibley even thunderstroms. In January? Could it mean Tornado's too?

The weather shifting soo much I believe is a preview of what is to happen when the summer starts comming around. I believe that their will be many dry hot humid days. Personally I also believe that their will be lots of natural disaster happening this year. People are not only going to be afraid of whats going to happen to them but also I think their are going to be alot of crazy things that people are going to make up. Like how the world was suppose to end on 12/12/12.......
Which, as we all know, did not happen. There has been soo many ideas that we are suppose to die, for example;

As crazy as these may seem, thousands of people believed in these. It is just someone way of finding something to blaim and then having something to fall back on to some what..."comfort" them incase it did happen. As the weather changes ways that we are not use to and shouldn't as humans we begin to get scaired because we are facing the unknown.

Response to, "The New Wilderness Land Grab"

The story is set around a bench of different people, not as main characters, but as examples of how people are responding to the enviormental issue differently. The story aslo reveals to the reader about some of the things people are doing to both help and make the issues look less important than they really are. Some of the people talked about within the story glorified but others were made to look like they werent really interested in helping the enviorment, just using the issue for their own benefit. It maybe true about some people, but in reality, even if at the time it was for personal gain, the efforts opened the eyes of thousands. Former President Al Gore was one who mainly focused on Global Warming, instead of enviorments. Will former Presidnet Clinton focused on the forest and help save some of the foests. Granted the story does state, "Presidential politics could help the cause as well. With a shove from the man who hopes to succeed him and an eye on his legacy,..." I feel that the Author was crizising the former Presidents and was, in a way, saying that they did not do enough. They opened the eyes of millions. Without them there really wouldn't of been as big of a push as there has been. People would of just believed that it was anouther consperiacy. We all know of Global Warming, and we are now dealing with the effects on the enviorment.

Also noticing all the animals that no longer have a home coming into cities and urban areas inseach of new food forces and/or new homes. After everything that has been happening many would try to be comming up with their owbn theroies of why things are happening the way they are. Scientist and the "celeberties" have helped open the publics eyes to the issues that are surrounding us. Those that take a step forward and actually try to get people to join the problem, or even just letting others know about the issue should get more credit than they are given. In all honesty I found this story very boring and really hard to keep reading. Too many number were thrown within the short story. I couldnt stay focused beacuse personally, I did not find the story at all appealing.

Thoughts on "Called Home" From Animal, Vegtable, Miracle

After reading a piece from her book, to a certain extent I agree with Barbara Kingsolver but at the same time I also disagree with her. Firstly I agree with her because I think that most people dont conpletly understand the process of how and where food comes from. As Americans we take advantage of the things around us ecspeically food. As a nation that is becomming to be horribley obese we dont seem to care what we are wasting and how much of things we have. We consume and waste more than any other nation. In Africa hundreds of people are starving and suffering from being malnutritioned. Which in turn if America would learn to conserve some, we would inturn be able to help those that are in diar need instead of only worrying about ourselves. Also as we through away as much as we do it begins to build up. Animals will only eat soo much of the spoiled food and the enviorment can only decompose so much of the things we waste. Land fills begin to fill up and having us make more and more spots to through away our extras. Trash has become such an issue that we no longer seem to care and try to control the problem instead we decide to put it somewhere else. Out of sit out of mind, right?

this is a land fill in Colombo.

Trash has to go somewhere when it blows away, of course the ocean
is the one thats their to catch it all for us.

Animal life is suffering.

On the other hand I disagree with her. She says that the soicety is so concerned about how the food is made. Which is compeltly true. But, at the same time, people are becomming more and more aware of how things are being made. We are no longer completly ignorant. Our nation knows things that are both bad for the enviorment and for ourselves. For example we no longer use pestdiced. It was killing animals it wasnt meant to and hurting us.As humans we are not perfect but we do eventually fix our wrongs. We are not the best things in the world for what we are doing with our trash but we are trying to fix it. We are more aware of the wrongful slaughtering of animals and are starting to change the ways of our wrongs. We are making laws to attempt to control the ways animals are treated. We do not have very many farms within our nation either. Some, but not enough to help distribute the needed supply of food. As many Americans are beginning to realize most of the things we are importing are either from China or Mexico. Not the United States. We all now know that vegtables grew either next to the ground or on the ground. We are still ignorant but not completly ignorant.

Reason for blogging

As a KCC student taking an English I class, our instructor hasasked us to start our own blog. Not only for class points but also for our own individual growth. As a first time blogger, this feels very very over whelming. Since not knowing how to use any of this and having no clue what exactly is okay to say and not say is going to be interesting to try and figure out. Most blogs I have read, well werent the most helpful. Many complaining and pointing fingers. In this blog I hope to give poeple some what of a better understadning of how our life, nature, and lives all over the globe are being effected by not only global warming but all other factors that play a role in changing the enviorment, weather, and the way we live our lifes.

The enviormental issues are not only effects use, but also our animals; everywhere
